Topic: copy & paste feature

Text tool A copied. Pasted as B. Text tool A edited to A'. Paste again (without new copy) results in a pasted B' rather than the expected B. Does the RC copy only the handle of a tool not the tool itself? I think that this would be non-standard behaviour which may be a feature ;-)

Re: copy & paste feature

It appears that the object is properly copied, but the copy is only created at the moment the user does the pasting action. Not sure if it is useful enough to be considered a feature, but probably harmless enough to consider it a quirk?

Re: copy & paste feature

;-) I was referring to this sense of 'feature' https://www.wired.com/story/its-not-a-b … a-feature/ which deals actually with bugs. I do think it's a bug, but fixing it is not that important - still, it is non-standard and would need to be documented or changed at some point when it fits the development.

Re: copy & paste feature

I've included it in the documentation (https://guide.researchcatalogue.net/#co … e-footnote)

We may reconsider this 'feature' in the future: I can imagine this behavior is frustrating if the copy function is used as a backup while making changes to an original object.
