when I delete the last note in an exposition and then go to 'next' note nothing happens. If there has never been a note, I get a message that there no notes in the exposition - which I would expect to also get in this case.

;-) I was referring to this sense of 'feature' https://www.wired.com/story/its-not-a-b … a-feature/ which deals actually with bugs. I do think it's a bug, but fixing it is not that important - still, it is non-standard and would need to be documented or changed at some point when it fits the development.

I would like the current page in the TOC (Home menu) highlighted so as to know where in the page structure I actually am. If a TOC entry has x/y coordinates and there is one without for the same page, if the page is moved the highlight should jump to this; if there is no general entry for the page, non should be highlighted.

Text tool A copied. Pasted as B. Text tool A edited to A'. Paste again (without new copy) results in a pasted B' rather than the expected B. Does the RC copy only the handle of a tool not the tool itself? I think that this would be non-standard behaviour which may be a feature ;-)

the link for the rss seems not to be working anymore - new link?

the research interest field in the user profile seems not to be included in the site search. (e.g. post-conceptual art, which I just added to my profile, don't result in my profile as hit.)

You recently sent this link https://societyforartisticresearch.gith … logpublic/ - greatly appreciated to have a blog documenting development. How can I subscribe to the blog so that I get notifications of updates?

Thanks, Michael

I often need to look up the position and size of a tool in order to place other tools accordingly. For this I need to open the tool, make a note, close the tool, open the other tool etc. It would be MUCH easier, if I could hover over a tool and was to get position and size in a tool tip. This would save a lot of time for often repetitive tasks in particular with an alignment feature.

Thanks for the quick answer, Lula. I am still trying to work out how to use this forum - if it's simply about bug reports, email may be better, but if it's also about more general questions, we need to try to reach the community. Having employed forums before in different contexts, it is clear that people don't go here when not prompted by a notification. This reduces the likeihood of anybody started a discussion with the community in mind since most will not hear about it and not visit the forum in a timely fashion. Maybe it would make sense explain somewhere how the forum is supposed to be used by the RC community? - Personally I would try to make it possible to subscribe to the big groups in the index and with it to all topics they contain -

best wishes, Michael

I can only receive notifications from those in which I posted; I'd like to actually be part of the discussion also with other users and not just with the RC administrators. ;-)

when clicking on the link 'view public profile' I expect to see only the non-grey items in my profile. This is not the case (although what is grey in my private profile is white now). However, when I open the page in a different browser without being logged in, teh page seems ok.

Even when being logged in, I should see on my public profile page exactly what others see in order to check how it is appearing.

when opening a page in the editor where the default position is set not at 0,0, the page should open at this position since one mostly wants to starts from this position

When grouping RC objects on my profile, it can happen that a work (or an exposition for that matter) belongs to more groupings than one (e.g. in can be in grouping 'performances' and in a grouping 'my research project output') Whichever grouping I put the work in, the other will be/feel incomplete (either I don't show all my performances or my project output will lack the performance). Should we not be able to create object aliases - on the profile editor, we could have an alias 'box' (so I know what the alias is), on the public profile, both look the same and lead to the same work/exposition details page.

yes, absolutely, it can be both.

- one more thought: when I hover over a text hyperlink I can see the url in the status bar, which is very useful. For some reasons when hyperlinking images, this doesn't work; would be great if I could see the URL there too

there are 2 option 'on click' of an image tool, which can both be selected. If they are, click opens the popover and after a second closes it to move to the URL that is entered i the second on-click option.

This should be done in such a way that only one option can be selected for the event.

I find the audio tool very difficult to work with in the editor. Different things:
- the frame is only visible when the tool is active; otherwise can't really see how bog the tool is.
- what is the effect of changing the tool height? the controls seem to have a fixed height, so maybe don't allow to change the height? (If height is smaller, tool is truncated which does not look good in any case.)

Could we not show how the player looks also in the editor? Basically, the more similar the page is to the viewer, the easier is the design work.

(also applies to the controls below the slide show - I never quite know where they will end up. Why not show them in the editor?)

very good idea - makes a lot of sense.

I am trying to work out how the search is supposed to be used. Say I am looking for myself, I type in s, c, h - and get a list of possible hits, including "primary school" but not my name and no way to scroll down. In terms of words, we are presented with a motley crew of things, if not to say a random set, which in itself is strange. Then I type in w and the list disappears, so apparently 'schw' does not return any hits. Likewise for 'borgdorff', I don't get any hits, while 'bor' works and I know Henk is on the RC. It is not that it stops at 3 letters, since 'Nietzsche' for instance work, but then, Nietzsche is perhaps not a user. Something is VERY strange here.

I would expect a list of priorities - so the first letters entered would be at the beginning and not somewhere else in a term. Ideally, if there is a library that runs on the index, perhaps most there is a way of telling what was most retrieved? Without this, the 'autocomplete' doesn't make too much sense.

This also relates to an issue with the results I see. So, say, I entered 'schwab', the first hit is something by Emily Huurdeman. I am co-author in the 3rd and 4th hit, but never as author in this list. Finally, under 'users' I can see my thumb.

I think this issue needs some action. Not only does it not really help, it is actually misleading as to the presence of artists and their work.

Sometimes, people have a project website somewhere, which they would like to share with the RC community. At the moment they would probably create an exposition paste some text in there with a URL to their project in effect duplicating metadata. We could have a new type of object (a 'work') which would contain metadata as had but like an exposition show a button 'Go to site' (or something similar) which would allow to directly open that page.

I can see the problem that less people might be using the RC for the materials themselves, I still see more advantages - less redundant data, more integration of interesting external projects - there's lots around which RC users cannot find. (Would even be better if those could be harvested, but that is a different question.)

This would be a minor development which would help complete a researcher's profile and add materials to our community.

What do you think?

very good point about the different language versions - given that I always aimed at multi-lingual expositions, it should be possible to implement it on this level too in particular if an exposition has many page and hence all pages twice or even more often...

not sure if this is related, but I am also told by the JAR team that one is not always certain that all notes are cycled through. 'Note view' gives notes only PER PAGE and not PER EXPOSITION. The bug here cycling through the notes seems not reproducible. If there is a fix, can you please test rigorously? - Thank you.

In the admin area, the page 'users' due to its size gets more and more difficult to work with. Is there  a way to simplify it to load quicker - e.g. just a search box that also allows partial terms plus placeholders and a bottom 'show all' just in case?

Mostly, one will search for a name to see if a potential reviewer already has an account. One could enter part of the name (last name?) and find a few matches - more in not needed in most cases...

this is problematic mostly for portal admins but may also be an issue for everybody else:

when e.g. assigning a reviewer, all one has at this stage of selection is their name. now sometimes there are multiple accounts by the same user, sometimes two users have the same name. every time a user name can be selected at least on admin level if not in general one should have the possibility to check that it's the right person by seeing additional information (popover?) such as tagline, affiliation, abstract or photo. If there is an ORCID Id, maybe pull data directly from there?
